The Emergency Signal Panel is a very durable signal panel modeled after the military VS-17 GVX Signal Panel. It is bright orange to attract attention of either airborne or ground search teams. It can be used as an aerial marker to mark locations of those in distress or areas that need to be relocated quickly. Due to its water resistant backing, it can also be used in the construction of a survival shelter. When searchers are looking for those in need of rescue, they look for colors that contrast the terrain around them. The bright orange color of the Emergency Signal Panel stands out on almost every terrain, increasing the chances of rescue . A signal panel such as this one has been used by both military and civilian organizations for over 70 years. The reason is simple. It continues to save lives. The Emergency Signal Panel is constructed of durable Nylon which includes a water repellent backing. The corner tiedowns are Military Issue MIL-C-5040 Type III Parachute Cord which have a 550 lb. breaking strength. These tiedowns can be used for many survival purposes such as building shelters, sewing, or making medical splints. This panel is also useful to those such as hunters and fisherman, who wish to mark wilderness areas for easy relocation. As you can see from our photos, it can be staked to the ground for aerial viewing, tied between two trees, or even tied to a large limb or pole and waved as a signal flag. A signal panel such as this one is required equipment for flights over Canada and a valuable piece of no frills signaling equipment anytime one could find themselves stranded away from civilization. Measures 57.5" long x 23.5" wide. Weighs 7.5 oz.
