Our Magnesium Fire Button is a last-resort fire starting device. Because it replaces an existing button on your clothing, it is always with you and takes up no additional space or weight. This is a great device for an escape and evasion situation. If it doesn’t fit your clothing, keep it with a few other buttons in a sewing or repair kit. Only you will know it’s there. Magnesium shavings provide a highly efficient accelerant and serve as a super hot tinder. Fire is produced by scraping shavings off the Magnesium button, and then striking the Ferrocerium button to produce a shower of sparks which can ignite the Magnesium shavings in order to set fire to kindling material.
