The Boker Airforce Pilot Survival Knife features a 4 1/2" slightly clipped point fixed blade made of SK-5 carbon steel, with a mirror polished finish. The knife has an overall length of 8 3/8", and weighs 3.6 ounces. The leather stack handle has aluminum and brass spacers, and an aluminum pommel with lanyard hole. An SAC (Strategic Air Command) leather sheath is included with this Boker Knife.

From the Boker 2010 manufacturer's catalog: A reissue of an extremely rare standard issue knife. In the late 1940's, General Curtis LeMay, the head of Strategic Air Command (SAC), authorized the creation of a survival kit for the crews of the long range bombers. Requirements were to be an effective tool for survival in the wild, with the ability to perform a number of functions to include field dressing and cleaning fish. A must was that the knife had to be lightweight. Boker produced 300 pieces for evaluation; resulting in immediate approval, and the Boker knife became the official survival knife of the USAF.

As these have been discontinued, this will be a nice addition to any knife collection.
